The VP Series Screw Presses were introduced in 1952 to provide continuous dewatering. Today they are larger, high torque machines, with relatively long screens for projects where press cake requires maximum dewatering. VP presses are distinguished by having screens in the inlet hoppers; a flared section in the main screen just ahead of the discharge cone; a single air cylinder cone actuator; and (usually) a belt drive between the motor and gearbox.
They are commonly used in pulp & paper, corn wet milling, and spent coffee applications. They feature foot mounted gearboxes. Available screw diameters are 16”, 22”, 24” and 30”.

How it Works
The screw rotates inside a screen, forcing liquid through this screen. The screens are built with stainless steel profile bar (wedgewire) or reinforced perforated sheets. The screw has a graduated pitch with interrupted flighting to maximize dewatering and prevent co-rotation when paired with resistor teeth. Press cake moisture is controlled by a discharge cone, actuated by an air cylinder. This provides an additional level of dewatering control only offered by Vincent Corporation. The press cake encounters resistance at the discharge of the cylinder in the form of a cone mounted on a ram. As the material reaches the discharge point, the cone exerts final pressing action to achieve maximum dewatering. The cone system allows easy adjustment of the resistance to cake discharge.

Customization Available
As the press has been adapted to many different applications, options have been added to the press. These include interrupted or continuous flighted screws, conical screws where the shaft increases in diameter, different shape inlet hoppers, different style cones, etc. VFD’s which accept single phase power are used to allow variable speed operation. Gearboxes can be changed for different screw speeds. On occasion the press is made vapor-tight, with an explosion proof motor.
